Metabolic Testing

One thing holds true in managing your weight and that is energy balance.  Simply put, if you burn more energy than your body absorbs, you will lose weight.  Knowing your metabolic rate helps you learn how to balance what you eat with what you burn.  Through a simple test, we can identify your metabolic rate and help you take the first step on the path to successful weight loss.

Customize your eating plan through target ranges:

Utilizing the results, our dietitians can help create meal plans based on your individual needs and activity factors.  Whether your goals are weight loss, weight maintenance or weight gain, we can develop a program for you. 

  • Weight loss - this range allows the individual to maximize food intake without compromising weight loss of 1 to 2 pounds per week.
  • Maintenance - eating within this range allows an individual to comfortably eat without gaining or losing weight
  • Weight gain - this range demonstrates how easy it is to overeat and allow weight to slowly sneak up on us. 

In preparation for the test, participants should:

  • Keep a 3 day food/exercise record
  • Fast 4-6 hours prior to taking the test
  • Refrain from exercising on the day of the test
  • Avoid stimulants such as caffeine or nicotine on the day of the test
